Suzy has worked as a Job Coach with the Adventure Group since the Fall of 2020. She found herself at the AG doors, at a time when she needed support after suffering a great loss and was also exploring a new career that better aligned with her core values. After completing one of the Life Skills & Career Development programs, Suzy accepted a job offer and hasn’t looked back. She often jokes around when sharing her story: “I took an amazing program with the Adventure Group, and they kept Me!”. She knew she was right where she was meant to be.
Suzy has a diverse employment background in PEI. Her early life was spent working in the Food & Tourism industry, which led her to complete a two-year program through Holland College in Travel & Tourism Management. She spent the next 10 years in managerial roles in both corporate retail settings and most recently, in PEI’s agriculture sector. Her diverse experience and skills in management, customer relations, human resources, and logistics have created a solid foundation to which she is now able to support and offer guidance to our program participants. Through sharing her own lived experience, she hopes to ease the minds of those who may have a fear of moving forward in life and helps them recognize all the skills they already possess that will help them along the way.
“Little by little, the bird builds the Nest.” – Haitian Proverb. This is a saying Suzy likes to share, as a reminder to celebrate your progress and accomplishments, no matter how big or small.
Suzy’s love for nature and helping people really is what keeps her waking up with a smile every day. Her favorite place at work is when she’s training at the R.O.P.E.S. Course, nestled under the canopy of the old growth trees, working with groups and watching the magic unfold.
